This one never worked until the final 30 minutes. i haven't been pushed in my art for a looong time, this was healthy.

word of advice, if your computer is in your room, move it out and into a place with plenty of room and light. also grab yourselves a salt crystal lamp. I have honestly never spent two weeks on a piece and feel as fresh as i do now..Computers really are a negative entity but dealt in the right manner can be good..

Anyways, i'm leaving the story for me.

take care,

Marley

2-3 weeks, maybe...well it was over a week anyway

Very original machine design, looks a bit like something you might come across ina Final Fantasy game or something - furturistic in many ways but decorated with shapes and forms more reminiscent of anvient stuff to make a powerful yet somehow beautiful looking machine, it's almost a shame to have to destroy it to save your life :XD:

Thank you..That mech design was created using a generic square brush, I only wish i could remember how i illustrated with this technique.

Thanks.

Hey Marley, hows things? This is a really nice approach on the perspective, and again it has a great sense of scale and 'hugeness' as always. I can see you put alot of effort into this one too, and it looks awesome. Great stuff ;)

Thanks, Elly i think it was in desperate need of the subtle variety of texture. Most pieces i don't detail heavily unless i need to.

With this piece however, it was a pre-requisite.

thank you, Elly

This looks great! Really a growing step for you I feel. Yes computers really can get you down I agree. I really love all the energy in this piece you can see every decision that went into it. The only thing is that I feel the perspective on the pillar is a little off.

dang my man long time no see, howz it going for you?.Thanks mate, yea i agree. 2008 had a more than difficult beginning but it is clearing up nicely.. I got the creative process nailed by 95 %...my planning needs a little work though.

I ad-libed the character and he took most of the effort, so if i'd planned what he was doing it may have only takin half the time to complete.

btw, i'm an editor on epilogue now :) haha. I now see why some decisions come off as dodgy, been a right royal learning curve thats for certain.

Oh you know it is going I guess. I do not do digital paintings anymore so it feels like starting from the bottom to the top again trying to build up my traditional paintings to be what my digital ones were when I ended.

I think you nailed the piece has alot of energy!

Editor for epilogue!!!! Well arent you big time. Good for you, oh I am sure you get quite a few "dodgy" pieces Hahaha.

but the only luck i have had is imagine fx magazin3 in 2006 issue 8 i believe, released in September

Again in same magazine in August of this year (issue 31) and possibly in issue 35..

It is a weird one that one. I have no idea if my pieces made it..I was asked to enter pieces that were greatly accepted into the DVD section. But Tom Rudderham, The DVD editor actually left, and had no subsequent dialogue exchanged. and then again with the new editor who exchanged nothing but an automated mail response...so who knows if i made it.

Thanks again, for the support!!

yea, totally the wrong thing to do. the energy build up interferes with your sleeping habits, and i was coming off after each piece second best..took me 3 years to figure out why!!..suffice to say that it was becoming crippling, i couldn't log on for more than half an hour.

BTW when i was nearing completion, your name popped into my thoughts and i was thinking i hadn't seen you in ages and had better visit. you beat me to it :)

take care

Thanks, actually no. The Colours were the easy part. It was trying to get every detail and aspect not to dominate and also to try and work up areas that were flat that was the big challenge, and thoroughly enjoyable i must admit.

about 2 years ago i was able to haggle a great price for many fantasy art books. One being the art techniques of Tim Hildebrandt. his description of how he deals with colours was a nugget of information..

funnily enough two years down the track, i finally absorb what he is on about *Snirks*

Thanks for commenting
